key.jpg Why Study the Bible?

We believe the Word of God is both powerful and true--guiding, teaching, encouraging, correcting, and giving life. We believe there is no spiritual life, and no salvation, apart from the gospel.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." (Isa. 55:10-11) "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Heb. 4:12) "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psa 119:105). "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (2 Tim. 3:16-17) "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..." (Rom. 1:16) And Jesus Himself repeatedly said things like this: "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life" (John 6:63), and "Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. (John 8:51)
